Menxons Advances Tano Basin Exploration Programme as Drilling Rig Arrives in Ghana

Menxons Limited has advanced preparations for its Tano Basin exploration programme with the arrival of a drilling rig in Ghana for the planned exploration drilling campaign at the Tikobo 1 Block, GH_TK_01, in Ghana's Western Region.

Project Update6 September 2026

Arrival of the Rig

The drilling rig has arrived in Ghana and is being prepared for the Tano Basin exploration drilling campaign. Its arrival marks a significant step in Menxons Limited's progression from exploration planning toward drilling readiness at the Tikobo 1 Block in the Western Region.

Drilling Campaign Preparation

The project is currently in the drilling campaign preparation stage. Activities focus on the technical and operational readiness of the rig and programme, exploration well planning and the coordination of site requirements. Drilling has not commenced and remains subject to applicable approvals.

Inspection

The drilling equipment was inspected by Mark K. Prempeh, Ag. Director (Petroleum), Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, together with Joseph Tachie-Menson, Executive Chairman of Menxons Limited, as part of preparations for the Tano Basin drilling campaign.

Project Leadership

Nathaniel Ato Ansah supports the drilling campaign as Project Lead, coordinating project activities and contributing to the technical and operational readiness of the programme, under the leadership of Executive Chairman Joseph Tachie-Menson.

Technical Readiness

The rig mobilised for the campaign is an IGNIS rig with a 102-foot mast, Wilson 428-500 single-drum drawworks, CAT 3406 diesel engine and Allison transmission, a Gardner Denver FXN mud pump supported by two CNPC F-1000 triplex mud pumps, a 10¾-inch Townsend annular BOP with accumulator, and 4,000 ft of 4½-inch drill pipe. Full specification cards are published on the project page.

Technical specifications based on the supplied IGNIS Rig Specification. They do not constitute regulatory approval, certification, drilling performance or drilling results.

Environmental & Community Responsibilities

The campaign builds on the environmental assessment process for the Tikobo 1 Block — including the published Scoping Notice and the Environmental Impact Assessment, which progressed with a positive outcome — and on the community entry and stakeholder engagement that Menxons continues with traditional authorities, institutions and host communities in the Jomoro District.

Next Stages

Following drilling campaign preparation, the planned sequence moves through site preparation, well planning, exploration drilling, formation evaluation and data interpretation to an informed exploration decision. Each stage is subject to applicable approvals, and Menxons will provide further updates as the programme advances. No discoveries, reserves or drilling results are claimed.
